Aquarius is named "The Great One" in the Babylonian mythology and represents the god Ea himself. Ea was the ruler of the southernmost quarter of the Sun's path, the "Way of Ea". Aquarius has also been identified as the pourer of the waters that flooded the Earth in the ancient Greek version of the Great Flood myth.

In astrology, the Age of Aquarius is one of the twelve astrological ages. According to astrologers, it is either the next age to come, or else it is the current age. Aquarius traditionally "rules" electricity, computers, democracy, freedom, modernization, rebels and rebellion, mental diseases and astrology.

Capricorn is an unlikely looking creature, with the head and forelegs of a goat and the tail of a fish. The capricorn constellation is sometimes identified as Amalthea, the goat that suckled the infant Zeus after his mother Rhea saved him from being devoured by his father Cronos in Greek mythology.

The goat's broken horn was transformed into the cornucopia or horn of plenty. Some ancient sources claim that this derives from the sun "taking nourishment" while in the constellation, in preparation for its climb back northward.

CapricornFew people are as practical and ambitious as Capricorns. They are down to earth and matter-of-fact. Caution is their second name and this is due to Saturn, their ruling planet. In mythology, this is the scorpion that stung Orion the hunter to death, although accounts differ as to the exact circumstances. Eratosthenes offers two versions. Under his description of Scorpius he says that Orion tried to ravish Artemis, the hunting goddess,

and that she sent the scorpion to sting him, an account that is supported by Aratus. In a Greek fable, it is written that Orion boasted to Artemis and her mother Leto that he would kill every animal on the earth.

Antares:

A red supergiant of 300times of the sun-diameter in 450 light years distance. The greek name means "Rival of Ares" and "Equivalent of Ares" (Antimars) respectively. It is also called Cor Scorpii, "Heart of the scorpio", and is together with Regulus, Aldebaran and Fomalhaut one of the four royal stars of Mesopotamia.

Virgo has been associated with nearly every prominent goddess, including Ishtar, Isis, Cybele, and Athena, as well as with Mary the Mother of Jesus. It may also feature, along with Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor, as part of the source of the myth of Callisto, either as Callisto herself, or as Hera.

The Greeks called the constellation Parthenos. She is usually identified as Dike, goddess of justice, who was daughter of Zeus and Themis; but she is also known as Astraeia, daughter of Astraeus and Eos.

Spica:

A bluish-white star in 260 light years distance. The meaning of the latin name is ear (wheat spike). The arabs called it Azimech, coming from the arab word "Al Simak", "The Defenseless" or unarmed, because it seemed to be unattended from the surrounding stars.

Eratosthenes and Hyginus both affirm that the lion was placed in the sky because it is the king of beasts. Mythologically speaking, this is reputed to be the lion of Nemea, slain by Heracles as the first of his 12 labours.

The lion lived in a cave with two mouths, emerging to carry off the local inhabitants, who were becoming scarce.

A bluish-white star in 58 light years distance.

Algieba:

A double star with two golden yellow giants. The name means lion's mane oder lions brow. The stars are in 125 light years distance.

Regulus:

A bluish-white star in 77 light years distance. The name means "Little King". Regulus is also known as Cor Leonis or arab. Kabeleced, Lion's heart.

but barely breaking the rhythm of his great battle with Hydra, Hercules crushed the crab with his foot. Hera, grateful for the little crustacean's heroic but pitiful effort, gave it a place in the sky.

and may be connected to early myths that described the Milky Way as a herd of dairy cows. Castor was a famed horseman and warrior who taught Heracles to fence, while Pollux was a champion boxer.

Pollux:

A orange giant in 33.5 light years distance. Ovid (43 B.C. - 17 A.C.) called him Pugil, “The Fighter” and the arabs called him Rasalgeuse, “The head of the twins”.
